ARE YOU, OR YOUR FRIENDS WASTING AN OPPORTUNITY, AND "RIGHT" TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN WEDGEFIELD? PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT AS A MEMBER AND VOTE

Do you realize that only 214 of the 577 members of Wedgefield Plantation Association voted in the last election?  That means that approximately 363 members failed to select the board that will determine assessments, use of our funds, and ultimately the direction Wedgefield will take over the next year!  Do you realize that your current board has been working on a plan to use that very apathy, to go to court, and change our covenants, and restrictions?

Right now, it takes a 100% affirmative vote by the residents to change the covenants and restrictions.  As of last year, your board is gathering the stats to prove to a court that because of your failure to participate - vote at all, that they can and should lower that number.  This board wants the opportunity to change our covenants and restrictions - the very documents that we bought into when we bought our properties!

This board has caused enough damage, often illegally, and lowered the appearance, and the standard in Wedgefield to such a degree that some of the board acknowledge it, and don't care, because you let them.  At a recent board meeting, board member McMillin, stated that "due to the fact that people were unable to sell their homes, and they were renting them, we were getting a lower standard of people here".  We can't sell our homes because this board has made decisions that have allowed our community to decay, and potential buyers are refusing to even tour homes that they made appointments to tour, because of how bad Wedgefield looks as they are driving to the address!

There are four board seats up for a vote.  There are four current board members:  Jacky Walton, Bob Garrison, Keith Johnson, and Peggy Phillips running for re-election.  It is time to remove them with a NO vote to each and everyone of them.

FIRST, YOU NEED TO VOTE!  If you want to move Wedgefield forward consider filling out your proxy this way!  YOUR PROXY MUST BE IN BY 2:00 ON NOVEMBER 14TH.

MEMBERS, IT IS TIME TO VOTE! GET RID OF THE FOUR BOARD MEMBERS WHO ARE RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION! THEY'VE JUST ALLOWED ANOTHER SITE IN WEDGEFIELD TO BE TURNED INTO A DUMP!

If you have a comment - for, or against, send it to wedgefieldexaminerthe@sc.rr.com, and I will remove your name, and publish it, as sent.

READ THE ARTICLE ON DUMPING POSTED EARLIER TODAY - NOVEMBER 8TH.

Four of our current board members running for re-election allowed this to happen on their watch - and a whole lot of other things that fed their egos, and their own personal power, and didn't benefit Wedgefield!

Vote "NO" for Jacky Walton, Bob Garrison, Keith Johnson, and Peggy Phillips!  Clean up almost half of this board who have dumped poor judgement on our financial oversight, contracting, and adherence to our governing documents!  Imagine - remove four tainted members without a nasty recall!

Vote for:  Madeline Claveloux, and Virginia (Ginnie) Sheckells - they are on your ballot!  WRITE IN:  Carolyn McBride, and RV Wheeler!

NOTE:  These are the opinions of The Wedgefield Examiner.  The candidates, and write ins have not been contacted regarding the content of this posting.

TWO NEW ARTICLES WERE ADDED ON NOVEMBER 8TH

TWO MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NOVEMBER 10 RESIDENT FORUM!

Today, two things happened that caused me to write this article.  Wedgefield resident sign up for the meeting announced on this blog is going well.  In fact, the initial seat RSVP number filled in two days.  We extended the number of seats available, and they are just about filled.

Today, I went to vote in the presidential election, and I ran into a WPA board member.  I was told that some people have called, or stopped into the office to ask about the meeting.  Their questions about how to attend could not be answered, because the meeting is not a board sponsored event, even though it is held at the WPA office.  So if you, or you hear of someone who would like to attend, please know that all Wedgefield residents are welcome.  We asked for you to RSVP so that you would be comfortable, and have a seat.  At this point, we don't want to miss anyone.

Additionally, we've had a few people contact us who are not available on the 10th, but would like to comment in writing, and have their comments read during the meeting.  If that is the case with you, and you are unable to attend, you can email your statements to mclaveloux@sc.rr.com.,  and we will be happy to read your statement.  We will read your name.  Your comments must be made in the spirit of the event - positive, and your outlook for Wedgefield, and how you view we could accomplish your statements.

HERE IS THE INFORMATION ON THE MEETING:
YOU ARE INVITED TO:
"A WEDGEFIELD RESIDENT FORUM - DISCUSSIONS TO OUTLINE POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR WEDGEFIELD"

HERE IS THE INFO ON THE MEETING:

DATE:       November 10

TIME:       7:00 PM

PLACE:    WPA Office - Meeting Room

Wedgefield residents, this event is not a project of The Wedgefield Examiner.  It is being promoted on the blog, as a means of getting the word out.  As a active member of the association, I have been asked to help facilitate setting it up, by a number of residents who want the opportunity to discuss how members can move forward in a positive, unified, group whether you live on the golf course, canals, or in the condo area to outline positive outcomes for Wedgefield.

In general, it is time that we speak openly to our neighbors, and hear each other.  Anyone who wishes to speak, and we encourage it, will be provided a "timed" opportunity, so that there is time for everyone to have a voice.

There will be no discussion of the upcoming voting for board, or negative comments regarding the board at this meeting.  In fact board members are encouraged to attend as regular members.  Some have already sent in their RSVP.

DOES THE BOARD'S MONEY SAVING ESCAPES, POOR PROJECT PLANNING, AND RIDICULOUS CONTRACTOR SELECTION, REALLY BENEFIT WEDGEFIELD? YOUR BOARD, PARTICULARLY GROUNDS CHAIR MC MILLIN HAVE CREATED A DUMP IN WEDGEFIELD!

If you have a comment - for, or against, send it to wedgefieldexaminerthe@sc.rr.com, and I will remove your name, and publish it, as sent.

Members, when will our individual board members think for themselves, demand sound project management and contractor selection?  While Hurricane Matthew was preparing to head our way, the one man grounds contractor quit (Garrison said, "they were fixin to get rid of him anyway".).  After the storm, during the October board meeting, we were informed that McMillin had found us a new grounds contractor who was willing to work for the same amount, as the previous one - interim contract, until the next bidding cycle.  No one told us how the board selected, and voted on this contract.  No one told us why the board didn't just start a bidding cycle now.

We didn't get a real report on how a contractor was selected to do Hurricane Matthew clean up.  As always, members get the best (sort of) information, if they stand up and ask questions during the resident comment section of the meeting, because little is reported from the cohesive, I can't think for myself, or vote by myself, board table.  We were informed that Hurricane Matthew clean up would be handled by the new interim - don't know how we got him - grounds contractor, because he had called on a clause in the grounds contract that states the grounds contractor has first refusal on storm clean up.

I asked during resident comments, how the new contractor could do this when all I had seen was the contractor with a small wood chipper, and regular sized landscaper's utility trailer.  I was informed that he had a few more pieces of equipment, and they might have to bring in the ice storm contractor - S&W, at some point!  The contractor would be paid by the hour (who knows what rate).  Looks like McMillin saved dumping fees, and dumped on Wedgefield once again, and your board let him.

It has been over a month, and clean up is going slowly.  My short road took 3 days!  Mean time, a resident noted, and commented in October, that the chips from the wood chipper were being dumped behind the gate (McMillin installed on utility company property.) on Governor Johnston.  Mc Millin claimed he needed this gate so he could store all the great deals he could get on buying pine straw and compost in bulk.  He, and his volunteer committee (usually him & one other board member), and the grounds contractor would then have ready access to cheap materials - thereby reducing cost.

Today, I drove down Governor Johnston, and walked back behind the gate.  There is no way that I can quite describe the volume of chips, and debris.  The pictures I'm about to provide below, don't begin to show the magnitude of crap your board has dumped.  We now have a GATED WEDGEFIELD DUMP - ON SITE!   Want a tour so you can see just how bad it is?  Email me, and I'll be happy to pick you, and anyone else up, and drive you in my SUV, to observe your board's new dumping ground!

The pictures are provided below.  Remember it is hard to capture the depth and volume.  I just kept snapping pictures, and moved
full circle!

WEDGEFIELD, IT IS TIME TO VOTE!

DON'T FORGET THAT YOUR PROXY IS DUE IN THE WPA OFFICE NO LATER THAN NOV. 14 BY 2:00.

THE ANNUAL MEETING IS NOV. 19 @ 10:00 AM, AT THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.  REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 9:00 AM, AND YOU MUST BE REGISTERED OR IN LINE TO REGISTER BY 10:00AM.

There are four board seats open.  4 board incumbents are running:  Jacky Walton, Bob Garrison, Keith Johnson, and Peggy Phillips.  It is time to fill those seats with new people, who will help lead us according to our governing documents, and who will help Wedgefield move forward at this critical time.  We have four residents who are willing to take those seats and represent all of us.  Please consider filling out your proxy, or ballot as follows:

The Wedgefield Examiner has confirmed that over 30 lot owners have  already supported a write in on our proxy for member in good standing, Carolyn McBride!

Members, please consider writing Carolyn McBride in on your proxy.  Carolyn McBride has lived in Wedgefield for about 13 years, and served as a volunteer on our community club boards.  She volunteers for Wedgefield whenever asked.  She has served on a key finance planning committee, and saw the project move to a vote, implementation, and stayed through collection of funds.  Carolyn McBride is interested, and invested, in all aspects of Wedgefield.  In her 13 years here, she has rarely missed a board meeting.  If you attend board meetings, you'll note that she often has questions for the board during the resident comment section of the meeting.  Her questions are presented with respect, and always a reference to our governing documents.  She is also a resident who follows up.   She has the ability to look at every angle of a situation, and work with everyone to find a legal, ethical solution. We need her keen mind, attention to detail, respect for following our governing documents, and her willingness to persist, and work toward the betterment of every aspect of Wedgefield.

WRITE IN  - RV Wheeler.  Mr Wheeler is a 36 year resident in Wedgefield Plantation Association.  He owns two properties in Wedgefield.  One, his residence on Wraggs Ferry -  boarders the golf course.  His second property is a condo, occupied by a family member.  He is a unique addition as a write in.  He is involved in Wedgefield in general, and serves in board capacity in the condo area.  He is a avid member in both areas.  He serves the condo area, in volunteer capacity, on the board.  In regard to the WPA he questions after thorough research of the governing documents, states his concern, and relentlessly follows the process, and stays with his stated concern - claim, through resolution, no matter how long, or how many approaches, until the answer, is the right answer - ACCORDING TO GOVERNING DOCUMENTS.  We need his fearless energy to do the right thing!

You have two write in areas on your proxy.  TODAY, HERE IS HOW YOUR PROXY SHOULD LOOK IF YOU WANT TO VOTE TO MOVE WEDGEFIELD FORWARD AT THIS CRTICAL TIME.  PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR PROXY AND MAIL IT IN.
