Your board really doesn't want you at the meeting. They don't care that you let them hold their fake meetings - no constitution - our governing documents considered regarding votes, provision of fact, and resident rights. You have questions! You want certain things for our community! Now, and every month in this crisis Wedgefield is in, you need to get yourself to the meeting and ask your questions, and continue to follow up until we get results under the guidance of our governing documents!
My board doesn't really want me at the meeting to ask questions??? No, they don't. They don't even post an AGENDA a week before the meeting anymore! In the past, the AGENDA publication had people on the march to the meetings. It was a real agenda. You knew from reading it that a vote was coming up on this issue, this improvement contract, etc. We had standing room only in the building, and at some points a electronic speaker outside for those who couldn't get in. We have important, obvious issues in Wedgefield, and we don't get the agenda, reports from the table are vague - pre-orchestrated nonsense - if reported at all.
Where are we with the proposed illegal dredge of the canals? Where is the burn of the neglected by the board, spoil site? You know the one that board member McMillin stated the whole board knew why it was neglected, but wouldn't tell us what they knew, OR WHY THEY LET IT HAPPEN. Some of you have already paid $400 on this illegally constructed, no long range plan for the future idiocy, I'd want answers, and I wouldn't contribute another dollar to allow this misdirected crew to move forward. I'd think you'd want answers.
What does the board know about the golf course? Did the board have a illegal, unnoticed to the residents, secret meeting with the county about their potential purchase of the golf course? If they did, is it true that Wedgefield residents will be billed an additional $500 in taxes? Why won't the board hold a meeting, and let all members discuss their considered options regarding the golf course? Why won't the board discuss the option of the association buying the golf course - it is a legal consideration?
Why isn't the association ARC and compliance committee using our covenants, and restrictions to demand that property owners keep their properties accordingly - no over grown yards and lots, no unapproved fences, vehicles parked on vacant lots including farm equipment? Why are vacant lots under contract by their owners with the WPA for mowing, not being mowed, when our grounds chair didn't even fulfill the contracted # of mowings last year, and let some of those lots get to 5 feet?
GET TO THE MEETING TONIGHT, AND ASK QUESTIONS THAT WILL HELP SAVE WEDGEFIELD! CONTACT YOUR NEIGHBORS, AND ASK THEM TO ATTEND. ONCE THE MEETING IS OVER TALK TO SOME OF YOUR FELLOW RESIDENTS, AND BEGIN TO FORM GROUPS THAT HAVE THE SAME CONCERNS, AND PLAN, AND DO SOMETHING. P.S.: HOPE YOUR MAKE CONTACT WITH SOME OF YOUR NEIGHBORS WHO ARE REVIEWING OUR BY-LAWS, AND SC STATE LAW, TO DETERMINE HOW THEY MIGHT REMOVE THIS BOARD.
IF YOU ATTEND, don't just be an observer! Ask your questions! Link up after the meeting with others who appear to have ideas like yours, and form a plan to get the word out on your position. Remember, the WPA office building is your building, and you can hold meetings there by getting on the calendar!
Residents, you have to rely on each other in a planned effort. You have to stop relying on each other to complain, and do nothing. Where has it gotten you for the last several years to carry rumors about two of the board members unique association, laughing? No where! It hasn't changed their behavior, and it hasn't helped Wedgefield in critical areas that truly are lowering the values of our homes, and our community's value in the larger market.
If you are selling, or thinking about selling, help clean this place up, before your neighbors have two potential buyers asking them questions, that if answered truthfully, could only hurt your sale.
RESIDENT CONCERNS POSTED ON FB TODAY:
Resident #1: What's with the yellow scummy pond on #1 fairway? — at Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club.
Resident #2: Trees blocking the flow of water. Could become an insect breeder.
Resident # 3: If someone doesn't purchase the course soon, think what this place will look like in 2-3 years
