I heard that the board met last night to discuss a plan for the county to purchase the golf course. I'm not sure if the county was involved or if the board met to devise a plan to ram down our throats about how great it would be to have a PUBLIC/Municipal park in our backyards. I also suspect that Adam Anderson is of one the players behind this deal since he wrote the famous letter of plead that was posted in the Georgetown Times informing the world that we are living in desperate times and are a plummeting community. My guess is Mitch is part of this master manipulation and Adam is using his position on the board to help him. Good ol' boys? Can someone prove me wrong? I doubt it. I wonder how many other board members are lining up with this plan?
My question is why are we trying to revive a dying sport and golf course that has failed over and over again in the past? Any serious golfer is going to Pawley's Island or beyond to golf because Wedgefield has seen its' day. Shouldn't we look to the future and not reminisce about the good old days that are a distant memory at this time? This all sounds so harsh, but is it the reality of this course?
Here's an idea.... why doesn't the board ask residents to write up proposals for the purchase of the land and what they envision for its' future? The plan should be something that enhances the community and home values and not just lending it out for private or community events. And it should clearly and honestly detail the costs and budgets. The proposals can be posted on the HOA website for viewing and discussion and eventually voted on by the residents. There are many skilled, professional, and intelligent people residing in Wedgefield that are not being utilized to help solve this issue. It's time to think about the long term future of Wedgefield and not rehashing the same old plan that has failed over and over again.
It would be great if the residents of Wedgefield spoke up and voiced their opinions. More than ever we need ALL residents to come to next Tuesdays meeting and hear what this board has been concocting behind our backs. Speak up. I urge everyone to get involved. I hope to see you at the meeting.
