QUICK LOOK AT THE WPA JUNE 17 BOARD MEETING

We'll get back to the update on "Scenes of Wedgefield" published 6/17/14, but we had to take a quick pause to cover the June board meeting.

QUICK HIGHLIGHTS

*Seven board members were in attendance:  John Walton, Garrison, President Walton, De Marchi, Cline, Anderson, and Mc Millin.  Absent:  McBride and Johnson.

*13 members were in attendance.

*Discussions were held regarding time deadlines for annual meeting, including by-law change and submissions to run for board.

*The legal report detailed the reasons the board may move forward with looking for a new board Attorney of Record.

*The motion to change language in the policy manual relating to conflict of interest passed.  Three board members voted "no" - Anderson, Garrison, and Cline.  A resident wondered aloud as we exited the building as to whether President Walton should have voted.  He had contracted his business with the WPA for the gate house fix, and caused the controversy.  De Marchi who voted yes for the change, commented that he doubted any board member would ever want to do business with the WPA, in the future.  Really????  Has the board contracted with anyone else since our president's company pulled back on the contract?  Don't think so.  After all the rush to get it done, nothing has happened.  Were they waiting for the change in language so our president could have his firm come back in?  Only time will tell.

*Our Grounds ' Chair took over 20 minutes of meeting time, covering several items, that may or may not be important.  More to follow, but he wanted to submit language to change governing documents, that can't be changed by a vote of the board.

*Mc Millin was at it again, with claims of numerous complaints on an item.  Strange??? Yes, because Community Liaison, Anderson, said he had no report, as he hadn't received and correspondence.  Mc Millin does this frequently.  He makes claims of a need or project because of complaints, and when asked, there is nothing in writing.  Someone on the board last night reminded him, that if there are complaints they should be made official by contacting the office.  P.S.  This does not appear to be a lack of reporting from Anderson, because I've checked the official correspondence file in the past, found not one complaint, after Mc Millin had declared the complaints were numerous.  We all have to write, to hope to be heard.

*A resident reminded the board that they hadn't formally approved the expenditure of over $170,000 for road repair, at a monthly board meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Our Treasure received approval to transfer another $50,000 from operating to reserves.

In all cases. we'll transcribe the tape and discuss more in detail.
