HERE IS THE UNEDITED LETTER:
Madeline,
We have lived in Wedgefield more than thirty years. A year or so ago, someone recommended your blog as a source of community information. Since then, we have read it from time to time.
Your publishing anonymous letters mocking, denigrating, and vilifying people who are working to make this community a better place to live may have done more to bring this community together than you could have imagined.
For us, the recent attack on the Wedgefield Wragg criticizing everything up to and including the Welcome Committee, was the last straw. It is not "brave" to run down others, while offering no constructive advice, and while hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.
(I just joined Women of Wedgefield, Lu)
If you print this, please use our names.
Charles and Lu Hook Turner
EDITOR'S BRIEF NOTES:
First, I thank the writer for their opinion. From day one of The Wedgefield Examiner about 5 1/2 years ago, the offer to publish an opinion and remove the writer's name "to protect the innocent" has been available to all writer's to the blog. For the most part, there would be no writers if they had to publish their name. From the beginning, residents have questioned whether they could write, and be protected from the wrath of this board, and yes from some in the community. Residents have learned the hard way that when they become involved and disagree that they become the target of the board, lose "club" friendships, and are frustrated and concerned that they be protected. Quite frankly, few request that their names be published, and that speaks to the nature of this community.
