HERE IS THE UNEDITED LETTER - RESIDENT NAME PROVIDED AS REQUESTED:
Madeline, Lu, and Linda,
I have been following Madeline's blog for about a year now to get updates on Wedgefield and to listen to her blog followers. I go to most of the board meetings to keep up with what's going on and I talk to my neighbors about life in our community, their likes and dislikes. For the past few months, I've been contemplating a run for the board. My goal is to earn a seat and to advocate for positive changes in Wedgefield. Bringing together the divided community is foremost on my mind.
I may need a nudge to run for the board at this point because I can't help but wonder if my talents would be more welcomed elsewhere.
I'm having second thoughts after following this blog the last 2 days. My fear is that any suggestion of change will come with resistance and argument based on Lu and Linda's reaction to Madeline's blog and the letters her followers submit. It's harsh and overkill reactions like this that keep Wedgefield divided. Madeline's safety did cross my mind at one point. What ever happened to agreeing to disagree or compromise. People do have a right to speak up. I have so many wonderful ideas for this community that I'd love to share with everyone, but perhaps I chose the wrong community?
I am pleased that Linda and Lu think our board is doing a good job. Loyalty is nice. However, there are those who don't totally agree and your tolerance for their opinion would be most appreciated. My husband and I also love this community. We moved here almost 2 years ago and couldn't ask for better neighbors. As a matter of fact, we love it so much, my husband invested in a tractor with two other neighbors and together with 3 other neighbors, they've been doing a great job of maintaining the fairways in our area. They've been quietly contributing to our community for the past 8+ months. It's worth it, we love watching Wedgefield residents enjoy the cart paths and ponds for all kinds of recreational activities, including golf.
Linda, I understand that you submitted your last response to Madeline and no longer want to be involved in the conversation. So if you wish to respond to me, you are most welcome to call and speak your mind. I worked in the social services field for 30+ years before I retired and I'm a big advocate of letting everyone have a voice and an opinion whether or not I agree. You need not be afraid, I'm not a mud slinger. 843-833-8527.
