GROUNDS MAINTENANCE STUFF FROM LAST NIGHT'S WPA BOARD MEETING. SOMETIMES THINGS ARE SO BIZARRE, BUT CRITICAL, THAT YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE THE HUMOR, AND LET YOURSELF BREATH!

Readers, sometimes you just can't make this stuff up!  I wouldn't anyway because I could be sued!  I'm not worried.  First, this is what I said last night about Wedgefield:  "I’m hearing dissatisfaction from every type of lot owner, and the statement, “This isn’t what we were told when we were buying our home, on the canals, golf course, or in the condo area.”  Wedgefield is in a crisis when even the real estate listings have added the new term “buyer must verify”.  Take a ride from the front entrance to every corner of Wedgefield. Would you expect anyone to pay top dollar for your property?"  After I was notified by the board that my five minutes were up, President Walton asked the board whether they had any comments, and no one did.  However, later in one of his reports, Garrison says there is no crisis in Wedgefield.

The rest of the evening gets even more bizarre!  I said last night: "The board’s management according to our governing documents – the promise of Wedgefield, as it relates to Grounds, ARC, Compliance, and Legal – all of which impact our property values, has been appalling! Lots with weeds 5 feet tall, vehicles parked in vacant lots –the tractor, sheds placed on lots inappropriately and ARC, and Compliance ignoring complaints for over 10 months, etc.  Yet, your board sits silently by, while we re-up the grounds contractor’s contract, with an increase, and your board votes to approve, while it is reported that the contractor, now knows who the boss is!"

Grounds chair, McMillin gave a short grounds report, during the committee report segment of the meeting.  His real reporting came during resident comments when a resident talked about beverage cans being thrown on the side of the road within the association.  The resident went on to say that some residents regularly walk with plastic bags, as a matter of routine, and pick them up.  McMillin advises the resident that they don't have to pick them up, because the grounds contractor is suppose to pick them up as he mows.  He went onto say that he was walking with the contractor recently, and while he can't say much good about him, he is doing that.  McMillin went on to say that the contractor is now a one man operation.   IS THIS WHY WE HAVE LOTS UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE WPA TO BE MOWED THAT ARE REACHING 5 FT TALL?  I've been here 13 years, and we have never had a grounds contractor that was one man.  They had a team.  What is going on?  Then, McMillin goes on to say that we are getting a lower class of people living here, and he thinks it is because people can't sell their homes, and they are renting them out!

Go listen to the comment section of the tape.  Sometimes, things come out that the board may not want to, but it appears things are critical here, and your board doesn't care, and will deny it!  Couple this information with the struggle the resident has had with the board for over 10 months just trying to get them to adhere to our governing documents regarding the shed, and too many trailers, and junk stored on a lot, and ask yourself how we'll ever get out of this hole.
