THE PEACE KEEPERS - REALLY?????
Resident Morabit, spoke at both the February and March Board Meetings. His topic was peace and harmony. Each time he spoke there were requests for the Board to initiate a lawsuit against the dredging loan bank, the Bell Legal Firm, and Attorney Tom Winslow. By the March Meeting there was an email sent to the Board with a threat that if they didn't vote to sue they would be sued. Board Member Barrier brought the motion to the Board table.
Let's start at the beginning with the claim of a call for peace and harmony. Does any of this fall within your definition of peace and harmony? Sounds like a ploy to me to get your attention. After all, who wouldn't want peace and harmony in their community? Really, it is just same old, same old, and your community was trashed by these Concerned Citizens two years ago.
Yes, two years ago they were so concerned for you and me and that awful 2009 Dredging Board that they sued in behalf of you, because you can't think for yourself and they knew better. In some cases, some of you didn't think for yourself and signed petitions, donated funds for a lawsuit, signed petitions, carried signs, and harmed your neighbors and your community.
They made promises. Your funds, your commitment, would result in a declaratory judgement. In fact the court date was suppose to be November 30, 2009. They told you they would fight to their last breath for you. Wasn't there a quote by Ms. Zieske in one of the newspapers that said that? That's right, they took it to the papers to make their ugly accusations. They didn't care what it did to your community or your individual property values. They were going to see that two of those 2009 Board Members went to jail for bank fraud. They attempted to stop the bank loan. All this because they were protecting you.
They dragged it out for over two years and NOT ONE OF THEIR PROMISES WERE KEPT! They settled the court case and did nothing for you or me, but destroy our community, and pit neighbor against neighbor with lies and half truths.
THE NEW PROMISE:
They have a law firm in Charleston waiting to take the new case. THE PROMISE: They are going to sue and get your $5,000 (one time canal lot owner individual assessment) and the $175.00/yr assessments back! They are looking out for you again. How reliable are they? Well history is the best predictor of the future. How did that go last time? Additionally, the threat to sue was sent to the Board by a Concerned Citizen stating he had been asked to send it, but he wouldn't sign it because he didn't write it, but agreed with it. The author remains a mystery. When I say it, write it, and believe it myself, I always put my name on it. What about you? Really, if it is good for all of Wedgefield, wouldn't you want people to know that you thought of it?
THE SOLICITATION AND INVASION OF PRIVACY:
They are phoning and visiting individual homes and asking for a donation toward hiring the Charleston Law Firm to go forward with the lawsuit. They are contacting old people, middle aged people, and young people. Isn't there a sign posted near the front gate that states, "no solicitation"? They are above it all. Once again they know what is best for you but they are such cowards they remain nameless in their writings.
Two years ago, they badgered people repeatedly, to the point that some said they gave them $50 and signed petitions, etc. so they wouldn't darken their doors again. Some who signed and contributed two years ago, have every right to fear that they may be held responsible in the current counter suit.
I'm told their number of committed, contributing warriors has dropped considerably with the new lawsuit campaign. People are wore out. They are sick of their lying, false promises, the sullying of neighbors reputations, and most of all the angst they have caused in Wedgefield.
Will you contribute? Want your name to appear on their donor list? Want to harm your neighbors and your neighborhood, with their false promises? We'll see. Recently, they claimed they only needed another $1,000 to move forward with the lawsuit. How many more years of hell and disruption will we have if they do? What will it accomplish? Their last lawsuit didn't do a dam thing for you and me and our community, except harm it.
