BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE JULY 19TH WPA BOARD MEETING AND PERHAPS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER A CALL TO ACTION

This will be brief.  The meeting started at 7:00pm, and closed at approximately 7:45pm., and included several member comments.

Board members in attendance:  President Walton, Garrison, Johnson, Ebert, Cline, Anderson, McMillin

Board members absent:  DeMarchi, John Walton

17 members in attendance

HIGHLIGHTS:

*Only one resume was submitted for consideration by the board to fill the vacant board seat left by DeMarchi

*At least 6 complaints were received by the board regarding lot maintenance

*18 liens were filed for non payment of assessments

*The Welcome Committee reported two new residents to the condo area, and the chair said that the move in (sales of homes) were down substantially since the first of the year

*The Water Amenities Committee reported that the canal residents would be getting a notice of a meeting regarding a maintenance dredge.  The meeting is tentatively scheduled for August 11th at 7:00pm.  Note:  During the resident comments, a non canal lot resident asked if all residents could attend.  Your board said no.  The reasons were vague.  One was that there wouldn't be enough room for everyone.  This is the call to action. I don't care who the board thinks is paying, or not, but I think it is time for this board to quit hiding information from us, quit dividing us further, and if what they plan to do is legal, and above board, everyone gets to hear it, and the residents - canal, or not, get to hear, see reactions, questions, and board explanations first hand.  During the last approach to dredging, the board held the same meeting multiple times using a script, so that everyone heard the same thing.  The board could take it off site to a location that allowed the meeting to accommodate anyone who wanted to attend.  WRITE, AND CALL THE BOARD, AND TELL THEM WHEN THEY CONDUCT BUSINESS WE SHOULD ALL GET TO SEE, AND HEAR IT.  Every resident here should be concerned about what is in their back yard, and how this board will treat them.

More to follow.  It is getting late.

P.S.  CANAL LOT OWNERS:  You write the board and tell them you want all residents invited.  Don't let this potential project carry the taint of underhanded, and secret.  Make this board stand up, and talk straight to all of us.  They'd like to handle it this way, because they've convinced you that there is no other way, and our Legal Chair appears to have been driving this legal train to make us believe there is no other way for years.  We should all be concerned about what is happening on the golf course lots, canals, and Wedgefield in general.  Don't let them divide us, and then use it against us when they fire up "their constituency!
