FFROM THE EDITOR, "GENERAL THOUGHTS ON PUBLISHING LETTERS TO THE EDITOR"

Anyone is welcome to write to The Wedgefield Examiner via email: wedgefieldexaminer@yahoo.com. Remember to note whether you would like your name published with your article. The option is open to anyone who writes.

The Wedgefield Examiner was a year old on October 2nd.  It was built on the concept that regardless of "the side", if someone crossed the line against open, honest, according to the governing documents, good governance, the issues presented would be researched and documented as they were discussed.  That is the Wedgefield Examiner's responsibility.

This does not prohibit posting the "editorials" of others who may not substantiate their opinion.  It is your job when opinions are presented, to determine whether the writer is serving the best interests of a subject or just pontificating on "their side".  Most of our readers sit on one side or another.  Providing readers opinions written from a representative of their side may cause the reader to see the true leadership of their side.  For instance, many who voted with the Concerned Citizens, helped remove two board members on the words of Concerned Citizen leadership, and gave donations to the lawsuit brought by the Concerned Citizen leadership, have now expressed that they didn't know this or that was what they were supporting.  They have told some who have been sued by the group that they aren't the terrible people they were TOLD they were.

Publishing Mr. Morabit's letter was a decision.  The Wedgefield Examiner has held to the promise of printing opinions sent to the blog.  While we won't print foul language, we will let an individual's thoughts represent them.  Perhaps, those on Mr. Morabit's side, will wonder whether he represents them.  They may even wonder whether they want to be part of the "side" he is involved in.

A resident who responded to Mr. Morabit's letter wrote, "I wonder if he remembers just who started the trouble in Wedgefield. Three individuals who filed a lawsuit on behalf of the “majority” of the residents, collected money, and promised a resolution to the canal issue once and for all. I have been told that these individuals couldn’t, or wouldn’t, name the committee members, wasn’t sure who had control of the money, and dropped the lawsuit without seeing it to its conclusion. These same people then threatened to sue the Board IF they didn’t vote to sue the lawyer and the bank."  Publishing his letter establishes documentation regarding his thoughts, represents his side.  It can't be stated later by those on his side, that it didn't happen, or they didn't know that is what their leadership promoted.  Quite frankly, had the document not been sent, and I had heard about it, I would have searched for an avenue to provide it to you.  We all need to know who and what we are supporting.

The Wedgefield Examiner will continue to provide the opportunity for residents to give their opinion.  Yes, it documents the thoughts and actions of people who often claim they represent a large body of people.
